The Harris County Citizen Corps CERT Program trains ordinary citizens in how to help themselves and their neighbors in the event of disasters. The CERT Program is a part of Homeland Security. The training is divided up into 8 three-hour modules. During that time, trainees will have classes on the National CERT program, the organizational structure used by government agencies in disasters, basic first aid techniques, basic search and rescue techniques, and ways to ensure that the individual trainee and his or her family members are prepared for a disaster. All Harris County CERT training is provided free-of-charge.
You will receive free backpack, hard hat, flashlight, and more. This class will meet every Monday for 8 weeks. Must attend all 8 classes for certification. Space is limited. Please reserve your seat in advance of April 12th by calling 713-274-3250.
