A Matter of Balance is a session that emphasizes practical strategies to reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels with Memorial Hermann’s Trauma Group. Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance.
This is an award-winning program which seeks to help people learn to control fear of falling through exercise, practical tips, and problem solving in a supportive group environment. Any adult who is concerned about falling will benefit from A Matter of Balance. The evidence-based program encourages participants to see falls as controllable through increased activity and awareness of fall hazards. Each of the 8, 2-hour sessions also includes light exercise to improve balance, flexibility, and overall strength. Please register in advance of June 14 for this session. (This session is full as of 6/7/2021.) Please note because we are closed on July 5th the makeup class will take place on Tuesday, July 6 at 2 PM.
