General Summary:

The Community Outreach position will engage with the community day-to-day through community meetings and activities. This role is responsible for curating community partnership opportunities, assisting constituents, leading speaking engagements and presenting proclamations. The Community Outreach team members will collaborate with internal teams to support strategic initiatives and maintain relationships with external organizations, elected officials, and constituents 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Attend Chamber of Commerce events, ISD functions, public gatherings and other meetings in the community on behalf of Commissioner
  • Respond to and troubleshoot constituent requests
  • Collaborate with the Outreach team to prepare, promote and execute special events

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Skilled in written communication and the ability to take complex issues and quickly communicate them succinctly and professionally
  • Public speaking with groups ranging from children to senior adults
  • Troubleshooting and collaborating with various county departments, community organizations, and non-profits, to find helpful solutions to complex constituent issues

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and an outdoor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, printers, and Microsoft Office programs. 

Physical Demands:

This is partly a sedentary role and partly physical role. It requires physically demanding tasks, such as the ability to lift items up to 50 pounds, moving, or arranging event/outreach materials and equipment in outdoor environments. Travel required within the community.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however will need the ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends, as needed for community events and special events.
