Outdoor Educator

General Summary:
The Outdoor Educator is responsible for leading outdoor education programs that promote Precinct 3 parks, projects, and environmental stewardship. This role involves working with the Precinct 3 community ranging from youth to senior adults in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Speaking to the public on behalf of Precinct 3 and the Commissioner

Facilitate engaging, hands-on outdoor education programs
- Lead outdoor activities such as fishing, archery, kayaking, canoeing, camping, pond ecology, nature exploration

Maintain equipment, supplies and teaching materials
- Assisting with special events to include public movie nights, Veteran's Dinner, and large events

Assisting Precinct 3 emergency responses to public needs in natural disasters
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proficiency of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge in any of the following would be very helpful: environmental education, outdoor recreation, natural sciences, outdoor skills, and environmental stewardship

Experience in any of the following would be very helpful: outdoor and environmental education programs
- Experience working with a wide range of audiences, including youth would be very helpful

Proficient driving and operating trailers would be very helpful
- Public speaking skills

Communication, leadership, and group management skills
Work Environment:
This job operates in both an outdoor and indoor environment.
Physical Demands:
This is mostly a physical role. It requires physically demanding task, such as the ability to lift items up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods of time, moving, or arranging educational materials and equipment in outdoor environments. Travel required within the community.
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for community events and programs.

- Enjoy outdoor education

Enjoy outdoor recreation, natural sciences, outdoor skills, environmental stewardship and biology education
- Preferred experience in public speaking
