Riley Marcelin Chambers Sr. is remembered for building community, creating opportunity, and supporting the civic life of Barrett Station and the surrounding Crosby area. His legacy continues through the community spaces that bear his name and through the family he raised.

Barrett Station is a historic community in east Harris County with deep roots and a strong tradition of civic pride and mutual support. Riley's work reflected that tradition.

Life and Family

Riley was the fourth-born child of Marcelin Joseph Chambers and Mary Louise Chenevert. He married Felicee Ruth St. Julian, daughter of Luke Hamilton St. Julian and Pearl Margaret Fretty, on February 14, 1953 in Dayton, Texas. Five children were born to this union: Riley Marcelin Jr., Randy Joseph, Reginald John, Donna Rochelle, and Rod Luke Chambers.

He lived an accomplished life and owned several businesses including Chambers Package Store, Chambers Dry Goods Store, Chambers Home Builders & Construction Company, and the well-known Chambers Party Room.

He was a cherished member of the Barrett Station Socialite and Charity Club and the Barrett Civic League, and served on the Crosby Independent School District Tax Boards of Equalization.
