Harris County and Montgomery County Open 2,100-foot Gosling Memorial Bridge

Thousands of people travel along Gosling Road each day between Harris County and Montgomery County. Now, the newly constructed 2,100-foot Gosling Memorial Bridge will alleviate traffic as the critical and final piece of a 10-mile stretch of thoroughfare that spans Harris and Montgomery counties.

Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack and Harris County Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom S. Ramsey, P.E., recently held a ceremony for the completion of the Gosling Memorial Bridge, in dedication of Calvin T. Ladner, P.E., former president of LJA Engineering. The $9.4 million jointly funded project was designed by LJA Engineering and constructed by NBG Constructors through a partnership by both commissioner offices, which began when the project was in Commissioner R. Jack Cagle’s Precinct 4 Office prior to redistricting.

“We are proud of what this bridge symbolizes,” said Commissioner Ramsey. “It shows our strong partnership with Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner Noack, and it’s a symbol of the true impact of great engineering. We celebrate the life and legacy of Calvin Ladner and his work, and we thank Commissioner Cagle for his vision and planning of this achievement. It is very clear that every aspect of this project was planned first and foremost with efficiency and safety in mind.”

Commissioner Noack noted the bridge brings traffic relief to one of Montgomery County’s busiest roads. When the bridge project began in 2018, a study revealed more than 600 vehicles traveling southbound during the single peak hour between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

“I am excited to complete this very important connector between Montgomery County and Harris County,” said Commissioner Noack. “This stretch of road is one of the most utilized routes between Montgomery County and Harris County and will greatly improve both safety and mobility for motorists traveling on Gosling.”

Gosling Memorial Bridge spans Spring Creek and features two lanes for southbound traffic into Harris County. The existing bridge will become a two-lane northbound route into Montgomery County. The completion of the bridge comes on the heels of another 1-mile road project that widened Gosling Road between West Rayford Road and Creekside Green Drive.
