Felicia Nichole Ruiz honored with We Remember Memorial at Atascocita Park in Humble

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey and Crime Stoppers of Houston stood with the family of Felicia Nichole Ruiz this week, honoring the 17-year-old whose life was tragically taken by violence.

A ceremony at Atascocita Park in Humble was held to dedicate a memorial bench and tree in Felicia’s name. Born on January 9, 1982, Felicia’s life was full of promise; she loved school, was an honor roll student, and dreamt of one day becoming a teacher. In 1999, her life was taken by a group of gang members, with one fleeing to his home country of Venezuela, where he remains free today. Crime Stoppers of Houston continue to advocate in bringing her killers to justice.

“No family should ever have to endure the loss of a child, and that pain does not fade with time,” said Commissioner Tom Ramsey. “And for that, our commitment to justice for Felicia and her family remains steadfast. Her life mattered, and she will not be forgotten.”

The We Remember Memorial initiative raises awareness for victims by creating tributes in their honor throughout Precinct 3 parks. This also encourages visitors to become involved with cases that remain unsolved and to advocate for crime prevention and justice.

Precinct 3’s Parks Department maintains each memorial bench and cares for the trees so that they may grow for decades to come. For more information about the We Remember Memorial Project and ways to support victim advocacy, please visit www.pct3.com/We-Remember-Memorial
