Precinct 3 to Dedicate New Atascocita Community Center to Former U.S. Congressman & Judge Ted Poe
HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey’s Office announces the name of its newest community center at 17280 W Lake Houston Parkway in Humble as the Judge Ted Poe Community Center.
Poe, a former U.S. Congressman, represented the Atascocita and Humble areas in Texas’ 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005 to 2019. Prior to then, he served as a Harris County district judge from 1981 to 2003 and previously worked as a prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Poe also served in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1970 to 1976.
The new 8,500-square-foot community center in his namesake will be the ninth center within Precinct 3 and will feature classrooms, community rooms, a kitchen, and a coffee bar. It will also fulfill two goals from the Precinct 3 Parks and Trails Master Plan: adding a center in the area and improving trail access to a nearby park.
Remodeling is expected to finish by late 2025 with the center opening by 2026. For more information, visit www.pct3.com/Explore/Community-Centers.
