Christmas Magic: Santa Paws Drive Supplies Harris County Pets with 1,000+ Gifts
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey joined forces with community members to donate truckloads of food, toys, beds, blankets, and other essentials to Harris County Pets, thanks to the success of the Santa Paws Christmas Drive.

More than 1,000 items were collected at Precinct 3 locations and delivered to Harris County Pets on December 15 – making it one of the shelter’s largest donation deliveries.

“What makes Santa Paws so special is seeing the generosity of our community and their commitment to helping animals,” said Commissioner Ramsey. “We thank Harris County Pets, Friends of Harris Pets, Mystic Mutts Groomers, Sheffield Liquidators of Crosby, our local rescue groups, fosters, and volunteers for their work to make this Christmas drive a success.”

With Harris County Pets taking in more than 9,000 animals each year, Commissioner Ramsey has made the shelter a priority through the contribution of $1 million in annual funding toward shelter improvements and operations. The allocated funding will be used to increase spay/neuter services, raise awareness on low-cost services, and highlight the importance of responsible pet ownership, as well as the benefits of adoption/fostering.

In addition to boosting spay/neuter efforts, Precinct 3 is in the process of remodeling an existing facility to host pet adoption events in the Spring area, while spearheading meetings with Precincts, volunteers, and rescue groups to improve shelter operations and policies. Details about the facility will be released in the coming weeks.
