We Remember Memorial Honors Austin Adam Kanuch, Family Seeks Information in Unsolved Murder
HARRIS COUNTY, TX – On September 22, 2023, 39-year-old Austin Adam Kanuch’s life was tragically cut short by a senseless act of violence at his home, leaving his family without a husband and father. While his murder remains unsolved, Harris County Precinct 3 and Crime Stoppers of Houston aim to help his family find justice.
Commissioner Tom Ramsey gathered with Andy Kahan of Crime Stoppers and Austin’s family at Cypress Park to increase awareness in his case in hopes of bringing forth additional information through the We Remember Memorial dedication initiative.
“From today forward, this memorial stands as a permanent tribute to Austin and to all victims of violent crime,” said Commissioner Tom Ramsey. “It’s a place where remembrance and hope exist together. Through this, we ensure these lives are never forgotten.”
Since 2023, there has been one clue as to who is responsible for Austin’s murder. Surveillance footage captured the suspect fleeing the scene on a mountain-bike style bicycle.
“It’s been nearly three years - still no arrest, still no answer,” said Andy Kahan, Director of Victim Services & Victim Advocacy for Crime Stoppers of Houston. “Right now, Crime Stoppers has up to a $40,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Justice is not impossible - it’s necessary. So today, we honor Austin by refusing to let his story die.”
While the We Remember Memorial initiative raises awareness for victims by creating tributes in their honor throughout Precinct 3 parks, it also encourages visitors to get involved in unsolved cases and advocate for crime prevention and justice. Austin’s memorial is located at Cypress Park at 12925 N Eldridge Parkway, Cypress, TX 77429.
“This memorial is more than just a place to sit – it’s a place to remember. For our family, it represents love, legacy and the quiet strength of someone we hold very dear,” said Celene Miller, Austin’s mom. “It’s a space where memories gather, where the presence of Austin is felt in the breeze, the sunlight and the stillness. It’s a gift to the community, but also a sanctuary for us – a way for us to honor his life. May this memorial always serve as a reminder, especially to his three children, of how deeply they were loved and how truly remarkable, humble and kind their father was.”
